Mrkan, wall

The small island of Mrkan lies at the entrance to Cavtat harbour, near Bobara. The diving site lies on the western side of the point where the plateau drops to 7-20 m creating a wall which drops to 60 m.

Diving tips

The site is reached by boat from Cavtat and anchored at the plateau, sheltered from the southerly winds. Strong currents prevail along the surface. Descent is at the plateau. Heading right, the cave is reached after swimming approx. 15 min. Its entrance is large enough to allow 10-16 divers to enter it at the same time. Exploration of the cave is followed by exploration of the wall and then ascent to the plateau for a decompression stop.

Marine life

Crystal clear waters and an abundance of fish; divers may frequently encounter moray eels, lobsters, scorpionfish, octopi, rainbow wrasse, sea scorpions, parrot fifish.
