The Livka Cove lies south of the Island of Šolta. At the edge of the cove, at Pt. Motika, one finds one of the most beautiful reefs in this part of the Adriatic.
Diving tipsThe site is reached by boat; anchoring is in the cove, directly above the plateau at 24 m. Descent is down to plateau and along its edge, which falls to 50 m creating a magnificent reef. Galerija is located at 36 m and is a cave rich in lobsters and coral. On the left side of the cave, there is an anchor dating from Ancient times.
Marine lifeThe crag is covered in such unique red algae that the entire community has been named after it – The Red Algae Community. Here the algae are predominantly Corallinaceae (Pseudolithophyllum expansum). Life at the bottom includes rare gorgonian – the white sea-fan, a species endemic to the Mediterranean; soles, brown combers, blennies, octopi, John Dories and conger eels inhabit the sea bed.
